You can write via OBD if you have a full backup in boot mode. Sometimes, a virtual file can create a big mess. Do it Boot Mode is safe.

I've done a few and it works okay with KT200II. I've done several ECUs like this using KT200 without any problems.

You're having trouble plugging the pin because I've already done several Opels with this battery without any issues using KT200II from ECUHELPshop.

You bricked ecu, you can't clone then try write a modified original from donor ecu. The password is stored in the replacement ecus flash not the original ecus flash file.
After cloning ecu, you must read its flash then modify that file.
If when writing you get an OTP error it's means the solution was done with automated software solution which changed file layout.. Also bricks ecu.
